Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions? We've got answers.

On Android, WhatsApp statuses are temporarily stored in a hidden folder. Open your file manager app, go to Internal Storage → WhatsApp → Media → .Statuses. You will see all statuses from contacts you have viewed. Copy the files you want to your gallery.
On iPhone, WhatsApp does not expose the status folder. The easiest method is to use iPhone's built-in Screen Recording while viewing the status, then crop the video in Photos. Alternatively, ask the contact to send you the video directly.
Viewing someone's WhatsApp status always shows your name in their "viewed by" list — this cannot be avoided. However, saving the status to your device does not send any notification.
The .Statuses folder is hidden by default. In your file manager, enable "Show hidden files" in the settings. The dot before "Statuses" means it is a hidden folder.
WhatsApp Statuses disappear after 24 hours. Make sure to save any status you want to keep within that window.
